I am buying the 85mm f/1.4 off of my boss, because well I pretty much took it from him (borrowed) and never gave it back because I love it so much and he said he didn't get much use out of it anyway?! So I'm getting it for a mere $800.. better than $1100 and I'm working it off, so that's fun. Yay! Want a 50mm now, too, lol.
Alright, now. More family pictures - some fav's from, already long ago, Memorial weekend. I've been told my b/w's are still muddy... whatever, is what I say to that - I don't personally feel my subjects are lost in the background or that they lack any 3 dimentionality that you wouldn't already be getting with a digi. If you have advice to give please tell me!!!
A picture of my Dad, Jerry, he hasn't had a good portrait in a while and I think I can only successfully catch him candid. I like this one a lot, but he sort of has that look on his face.. I can't believe that lens is in my face.. oh well, he looks good.. I should post a picture of him that I'm working on fixing tears and discoloration on.. later.. from when he was 15, I think.. I'll do that.. a before and after :-) of course when I'm done, lol.
My Dad with Zoe, my daughter. These were all done in and around the graduation party that I was mainly taking pictures for. The bubbles were a big hit for Zoe, but then that did result in a big soapy puddle after not so long.
This is my sister, Truly, also with Zoe. She said she wasn't prepared for "picture day" but I think she looks great here! Zoe looks stunned.. it was by a cute little river bed with tons of rocks, my Mom wanted picture of them with the girls at.. then it rained. It was humid and hot as hell that day.. yes it gets hot in Wisconsin.. very hot and very muggy in fact.. with tons of mosquitoes.
My Mum's cousin Chris and his wife, Becky, with their new baby, Emily! Happy family, cheesy shot, but I like how it turned out for them.
I think I'm sticking to the black and white realm lately, even though it's digital(for now) because I need some practice. OH yeah and most of these were taken with an 85mm f/1.4.. ISO 200-400ish I think.. to lazy to check the specs.
This one is not of any of my relatives, but of an engagement session a couple of weeks back.. I think.. Taken in the doorway of a bank.. very close to sunset.
One of the very noisy, very large, dogs, across the alley from us. He is, for the most part, banished outside to bark at all the passer's by in the alley.. and his ears always look like that. We're on the way to the drive in, just getting ready to pull away and even though he's seen us, like, thousands of times, he had to come out to bark at us.
Right next to the drive-in is a really delapitated house and farm.. the farm is very creepy, especially at dusk.. all the windows are blown out and there are crows circling around all over the place.. What I wouldn't give to get inside there to make some pretty pictures.. haha.
Some pretty colours at sunset though. And yes, Iowa.. there are cornfields FOREVER. It's not hype.. it's true. I don't love it.. The drive-in is in the middle of nowhere.. and in and amongst plenty of cornfields. About a 45 minute drive, but it's a nice way to relax at the end of the week even with the babies in tow. Saw, Kung Fu Panda and The Amazing Hulk, just in case you were curious... Panda movie was cute.. and Hulk was weird.. I just don't buy Edward Norton as a big green guy and Liv Tyler??? I don't get it.. odd casting all over the board.
A pic of the flooding.. tame, yeah.. I have some other's but haven't worked on anything yet. I'm working on 3 weddings and burning DVD's of the Mem weekend stuff as I type.. so one day soon, maybe.. once I get those darned weddings done.. I'll be posting pics from those too.
I will catch you all later - catching up with all the blogs, etc.. today too. Cheers everyone! Comment away, I'd love some CC! -Cassie
We sometimes have showings over summer in the parks and stuff but it's nearly always crammed full of people cause they show like one film a year.
Nice shots, did the people give you any more to go on other than mussy? Any specific examples. Otherwise what's the point in them saying anything?
Love the drive in.. just don't love smokers blowing my direction at the drive in.. it's awful.. but then all the Brits I know roll their own so it isn't that awful cyanide stench that you get with American ones. Don't mind cigars either, lol. I can't believe, with weather fairly similar to ours, that you don't have drive-ins...hm.
